In short

Your files stay on your iPhone. We collect anonymous usage events and crash reports, never file names or contents, and you can turn that off.

1. Your files

Files you bring into DropMate, their names and the text inside them stay on your iPhone. DropMate never uploads them to us or to anyone else.

Reading text in PDFs and photos happens on your iPhone, using Apple's built-in text recognition. Tags and notes you add stay on your iPhone.

Files you keep are moved into the Files app folders you choose, in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone. If you choose iCloud Drive, Apple stores those files under your iCloud account and Apple's terms apply. We can't see them.

2. What we collect

To fix crashes and see which features are used, DropMate sends:

  • Anonymous usage events, like "a file was kept (type: PDF)", "onboarding step reached" or "paywall opened from Settings". Never file names or contents.
  • Basic app and device details that Google Firebase Analytics collects with those events, such as app version, iOS version and country.
  • Where new files come from, as a type only (Share Sheet, Files, or a watched folder). Never folder or file names.
  • Your answer to the one-time "where did your last lost file come from?" question, if you answer it.
  • Crash reports, through Google Firebase Crashlytics: what the app was doing when it crashed, plus device model and iOS version. Never file names or contents.

You can turn all of this off in DropMate under Settings › Privacy › Share usage data and crash reports.

3. Purchases

Purchases are handled by Apple. We check whether you have Pro through RevenueCat, using an anonymous ID. We never see your payment details.

4. No advertising

There are no ads in DropMate. We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers, and we don't use advertising SDKs or tracking pixels.

5. iPhone search and the widget

If "Show files in iPhone search" is on, file names and text are added to Spotlight on your iPhone so you can find them there. This stays on your device. You can turn it off in Settings › Privacy. The Home Screen widget shows recent file names unless you turn on the app lock.

6. Your choices

Settings › Delete all files and settings removes everything stored in DropMate. Deleting the app does the same. Files you've already kept stay in your Files folders.

Usage events and crash reports are anonymous, so we can't link them to you. If you have a question about them, write to us at the address below.
